Mensport in the Netherlands

The sport of driving in the Netherlands has enjoyed increasing popularity for some time now. People from young to old enjoy this very diverse equestrian sport in their own way. Where for one person the sport of driving stands for enjoyment with the whole family on the wagon in nature, another chooses to bring his horse or pony to driving competitions.

Types of driving competitions

Driving competitions again come in all shapes and sizes: dressage competitions, skill competitions, three-part competitions that include the marathon in addition to dressage and skill, mendurance and not to mention harness horse racing.

In addition to the forms of driving competitions mentioned above, there are also a great many drivers who participate in carriage rides with their authentic or replica mounts. Originality and "beauty" are the main sharpeners here.

Yet another form of driving sport are ringstitch competitions. Ringsteek competitions are often organized by local driving clubs. As a rule, both drivers with authentic carriages and those with modern carriages participate. The modern wagons are often lavishly decorated for the occasion.

Mensport at associations

Many equestrian associations today have a "mentoring branch. If you want to participate in competitions, you must be a member of a driving association. But even recreational riders often choose to join a riding association. Of course for the association lessons, but also for the conviviality one almost always finds after the riding lessons in the canteen.
