The mouthpiece can rotate between the cheek rests . This makes it impossible for the thin part to act and the mouthpiece stays still on the tongue. In addition, pressure exerted on a wide surface gives less local pressure than the same pressure on a small surface. Since there is less space than we once thought, the maker opted for flat and wide. This way, the horse does not get too thick a bit in too small a space.
