The Trust Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have a recognisable blue colour. Sweet Iron develops surface rust through contact with (air) humidity, which tastes sweet and naturally stimulates the horse's salivation. This will cause the horse to foam more, which improves acceptance of the bit. This rusting process (oxidation) changes the blue colour of TRUST bits to brownish-grey. This is a desired effect of the Sweet Iron bits. When temporarily not using a Sweet Iron bit, an orange-brown rust layer may form on the mouthpiece. This can be easily removed by wiping the bit with a damp cloth.
Sweet Iron helps in making the bit lather more and accept it better.
This mouthpiece is a rod with a low tongue arch. The bar gives slight tongue clearance and provides good pressure distribution on the layers. The port creates space for the tongue and reduces pressure on the centre of the horse's tongue. More tongue clearance is ideal for horses that have a sensitive tongue or horses that stick their tongue out.
