The leather bits are a standout in the TRUST collection. The core of the leather bit is made of reinforced nylon. The leather which is hand-stitched around the core is naturally tanned without chemicals.

Salivation makes the leather bit softer and more pleasant for the horse as it molds perfectly to the horse's mouth. The round construction and the suppleness of the leather are unique. The flexible action combined with the taste of the leather makes the bit extremely suitable for horses with sensitive mouths. In addition, we find that horses like the taste of the leather and therefore accept the bit well. Even horses that generally dislike a bit in the mouth often accept leather and can thus learn to trust a gentle rider's hand again.
Care: The leather bit is easy to keep supple by rubbing it regularly with some olive oil or butter (not leather oil, as it does not taste good).
Note: Make sure the stitching points to the outside, i.e. to the front of the horse/opening of the mouth.
Sidenote: Unlike steel mouthpieces, leather mouthpieces are significantly softer. This is what most horses like about these bits. However, horse teeth are significantly harder than leather and can shorten the life of a leather mouthpiece. If the bit is properly on the layers, damage to the mouthpiece is quite unlikely, but not impossible due to too sharp teeth. Such damage is not considered a manufacturing defect. So check the bit regularly for damage.
